We are going to walk through exactly how we took an eCommerce Client with 519 visitors to 1401 visitors per month organically in just a span of 4 months by fixing the On-Page and Technical SEO issues.
About the Client
Our client is engaged in the business of selling Industrial Electrical Components and Industrial Automation Spares from well known International Manufacturers.
The client’s website was relatively new and we had to put in a lot of effort for the website to get recognized by the search engines, and eventually drive a good amount of traffic. We started working for this client on Oct’21 and completed the Technical SEO and On-Page Optimizations by Jan’22.
The Game Plan
On conducting an in-depth audit, we could see that the client’s website had a number of issues that were required to be solved immediately. Two major areas that required improvement were On-Page optimization and Technical SEO.
On the client’s website, we detected certain issues such as Duplicate Homepage URL, Duplicate Pages, XML Sitemap, Query Parameters, Index Bloat, Canonicalization, Broken Internal Links, Image Sizing issue, and many other On-Page and Technical issues.
Our specialized team of On-Page experts suggested SEO audit recommendations along with the necessary steps that can be taken to increase the traffic organically for the client’s website.
After scaling out the technical issues, we had to implement the SEO audit recommendations. We categorized the Technical and SEO Audit issues based on their level of priority. While some issues needed to be resolved on a high priority basis, the others needed to be resolved on medium and low priority and could be done gradually.
We replaced all the duplicate content with fresh and unique content on all the pages. The next step was to remove the duplicate URLs and replace the broken internal links by redirecting them to the homepage.
Out of all the On-Page and Technical issues that we had identified, duplicacy of descriptions and missing content was the major critical areas that called for prompt actions. Based on the priority levels that we had categorized, we started implementing the SEO audit recommendations step-by-step.
We conducted a keyword gap analysis to figure out the top-ranking keywords for the client’s website for which the client’s competitors were already ranking, and our client wasn’t. Depending upon the keyword’s volume density and difficulty level, we shortlisted relevant keywords to add to the content.
Certain pages on the client’s website had duplicate Meta Titles, which made it difficult for the search engines to crawl the data from the client’s website. We created unique Meta Titles for the same.
Out of 54 pages, 44 pages did not have meta descriptions, while the rest 10 pages had duplicate meta descriptions. We created unique meta descriptions for all the 54 pages under 180 character limit to increase the click-through rate in the SERP engines.
Summing Up
A new website requires a well-planned SEO strategy to perform well in the SERP results. After implementing the above-mentioned strategies and overcoming the challenges, the client’s website is now seeing continuous improvement in organic traffic.
